The story is centered around the Pilaster family. Edward Pilaster and his friend Micky are at school. Hugh Pilaster, cousin of Edward also studies there. A death occurs at the school which changes the relation between all of them. Hugh’s father who is considered the black goat of the family dies and he becomes bankrupt. Hugh stops studies and goes to work at Pilaster bank. Miranda, mother of Edward, is the driving force of the complete Pilaster family. She is enchanting and wicked which makes her such a dangerous character. She denies Hugh promotion despite him being very hard working and worthy. The story is very touching and complex and highly emotional.

P.S. Reader discretion recommended.

“exciting”

The narrator of this book is Norman, a psychologist who accompanies a team of scientists in their search in a spacecraft that was found beneath the Pacific Ocean. What they find at each stages of their search is highly unexpected. Michael Chrichton really has got that special ability to explain real complex scientific theories in an interesting way and using easy to understand words. Another great work from the author after the masterpiece “Timeline”!!

This one gets an “emotional”. Not quite because its really very emotional or so. But some parts really made me think of the part of society which I have neglected for long. This one is about one who too felt like me and went out there to help them the underprivileged.

The narrator in this story is Michael Brock, a lawyer in a big firm called Drake & Sweeney. He works hard to be a partner of the firm along with about 800 others in that firm. One day he and some others are held hostages by a homeless fellow who later gets killed by the police in their attempts to save the attorneys. This affects the narrator who then investigates his kidnapper’s history. In this process he meets Mordecai Green who specializes and works in street law, i.e. helping the homeless people legally free of charge. He is paid by a trust which was declining due to lack of funds. He takes the narrator to places where shelter, food etc were given to the homeless. The narrator is deeply moved by this and joins Mordecai to help the poor. He resigns his job. His personal life also gets affected , he divorces. Just before leaving his old company he finds that some wrong deeds have been done by his company against the homeless. He steals a file from the company that contains some proofs against his former employee. The story gets exciting when the company files a case against Michael for theft and he in return files a case against the company for discriminating the homeless.

A good book. Though not the best of Sidney Sheldon I have read, still was a good read. I would give a rating “entertainer”. The climax is really superb and the plots are enchanting. The intelligence of the villain Constantin Demiris is a the feature I liked most in this book. The author did justice to his usual style by explainging the background details and the past of the characters irrespective of their importance.

The police are notified and he comes in their WANTED list. During this course he has some family problems and also divorses.

It is one of the few books I have read about the poor and that is a part of the society which the higher beings of the same society tends to forget. This is really an eye - opener. Though its not very exciting it is one of the books that SHOULD BE read.

I can give this book a "must be read" without any hesitation as it is a really great book. The action starts from the first page onwards and goes on for the three days wherein the story occurs. The story is written as a narration by separate characters of the story. Each narration which makes up a chapter justifies that narrator. There is no real villain character in the story. All are made to do what they do or are made to be like how they are now. They are all real world characters.

The overall plot is that of a robbery. But it goes on to be much complex for a simple thing like that primarly because the thing which is going to be stolen is something which can eliminate human life without much of an effort. Another reason is that there is heavy measures taken to prevent such a theft. Yet another reason is tremendous bad luck to almost all the characters. This bad luck also applies to the good people as that of the thieves. So the story turns out to be very interesting.

Everybody should try to read this "must be read book".
